Freetown — A team from Women in the Media Sierra Leone (WIMSAL) would be undertaking a four-day trip up country to establish branches in all provincial headquarter towns.
Public relations officer Princess Gibson said her organization was formed by a group of energetic young female journalists with membership drawn from both print and electronic media.
"Our aim is to raise the standard of female media practitioners in Sierra Leone and to take over strategic positions in their media organizations as well as discharge their functions professionally," she said.
She said the trip was part of the organization's mandate to decentralize its operations and create a national body.
Gibson stated that the team would be in Kenema on August 28 where a meeting would be held with female journalists at the SLENA office at 2:00pm.
"Another meeting will be held on August 29 at the SLAJ southern region head quarter in Bo at 10am. Members of WIMSAL will hold a final meeting at the canteen of radio Mankneh in Makeni at 2pm on August 30," she said.
She said WIMSAL considers female media practitioners in the provinces as part and parcel of its current membership its present executive believes that Freetown is not Sierra Leone.
