Katsina — Katsina State government is to introduce two new loan schemes to promote small and medium scale enterprise as well as self reliance among youths in the state.
The first loan scheme was implemented some months ago which saw distribution of N100 million interest free loans to small business owners in across the state.
Briefing newsmen on outcome of state executive council meeting, the state Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Sani Makana, said a total sum of N106.5 million had been approved for the two schemes, which border on youth entrepreneurship programme and, small and medium enterprises intervention programme.
Makana said the council had also approved award of contract for establishment of four fertiliser/kaolin processing plants at Mai'adua, Batsari, Bakori, and Safana council areas at cost of over N89 million.
He said the sum of over N56 million had also been approved by council for ceiling and wall finishing works at the Katsina motel, as well as construction of a standard drainage in Dutsenma at cost of over N51 million.
The commissioner, who reiterated government's commitment to providing basic amenities to its people, assured that the state government would do what is necessary to take the state to the promise land.
