Ghana: Gyan Suffers Fresh Injury Scare

25 August 2008

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has suffered another injury setback with news he has been sent for an X-ray on a thigh problem.

The 22-year-old has only recently returned to action from the toe operation he underwent after playing at the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

Gyan was a second-half substitute for Rennes during Sundays 2-1 win over Rennes in Ligue One.

He complained for thigh pains after the game and is scheduled to have further tests on Monday to determine the extent of injury.

Gyan joined Rennes in the off-season from Udinese with suspicion that he had not fully recovered from the injury that hampered his participation at the Africa Cup of Nations.

He is keen to impress at Rennes who spent US$12m to sign him from the Italian side last month.
