Western were crowned 2008 Kampala Casino/Tusker Malt Lager Inter Regional Champions after they carded a team total of 2,997 nett in the 3-day event that was held at the par 72 Uganda Golf Club Kitante course over the weekend.

Western, also winners of the 2006 and 2007 editions of the prestigious tournament only ranked second to the much-acclaimed Uganda Open, won by just 17 strokes after being given a stiff surprise challenge by Eastern region.

Edwin Tumusiime, the captain of the victorious team, paid tribute to his hard working teammates who had played with heart to ensure the trophy remained away from the opposition. "Wanzala (Fred), Muyege (Peace), Opio (Sadi Emmanuel), Byamukama (Vincent) and Namakula (Flavia) take the credit for our win," said an elated Tumusiime who also thanked Monitor Publications for sponsoring them. MPL provided the balls for the Western team.

Eastern outsmarted Northern to second position with 3,014 nett.

Brian Mwesiga, Petra Nalwoga, Deo Muhumuza, Daniel Kagwe, Karim Somani, Eva Okatch and George Olayo returned immaculate scores
