Mogadishu — Somali troops shot and killed one civilian in the second main market of Suuq Bacaad, accusing them of being Islamic insurgents who recently launched a series of hit-and-run raids on government targets, witnesses said Monday.
Witness Ahmed Liban said government soldiers killed the man later than they captured him in the market.
But Asha Sheikh, another resident, said "there was no confrontation apart from the troops shooting at the civilian man."
Its yet unknown the motive behind the killing of that civilian man although the government kill civilians they suspect without grilling.
Islamist fighters had briefly captured over a dozen strategic towns in the last few months and on Thursday, they seized Kismayo town.
