The heads of United Nations peacekeeping missions in West Africa today start a two-day meeting in Guinea-Bissau aimed at reviewing regional and national challenges to the success of their mandates.
During the two days of discussion, the Special Representatives - from UN Missions in Liberia (UNMIL) and Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), the UN Office in West Africa (UNOWA) and the UN Office for the Consolidation and Peace in Guinea-Bissau (UNOGBIS) - will examine the latest developments in the sub-region since their June meeting in Dakar.
The agenda will also include a briefing on the recommendations made at last week's meeting of Force Commanders on UN peacekeeping missions in West Africa, held in Monrovia, and a presentation from the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Mohamed Ibn Chambas of Ghana.
