Nairobi — Leaders Mathare United have to wait for a decision by the Kenya Premier League (KPL)disciplinary committee to see if they will go four points clear on the league standings.
This follows the half time abandonment of their match against Gor Mahia last Sunday due to crowd trouble at Nyayo Stadium.
Until the KPL Independent Diciplinary Committee (IDC) rules on the matter, Mathare's league points tally remains, 38 points from 18 matches, just one ahead of Awendo-based Sony Sugar who won 1-0 win in Nakuru against military outfit Ulinzi Stars. Sony have played 19 matches.
Tusker's dip in form continued with yet another loss, this time away to Western Stima at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.
Defender Joseph Shikokoti's handball in the the box gave Stima the win and with it, movement to tenth place with 23 points easing their relegation worries.
Gor Mahia are in trouble though. After a string of changes in their technical bench, it's highly likely the IDC decision will go against them as the home side following Sunday's disruption.
Shot on goal
Mathare United had snatched lead in the 35th minute with a free kick by Austin Makacha. Gor Mahia goalkeeper Frederick Onyango had stepped outside the penalty box and handled the ball prompting referee Frank Musungu to award Mathare a shot on goal.
"It is bad that such things are happening to our league. It was the first of its kind this year and I hope it will not derail our progress," said Francis Kimanzi, Mathare United coach.
In Nakuru, veteran Francis Onyiso brought down Tom Ochieng and Joakins Atudo scored from the resultant penalty for the only goal of the match.
Thika United Thika trounced relegation bound Mahakama 2-0 at home with goals from Joseph Mwangi and second half substitute Paul Anunda.
World Hope had no answer Muhoroni, going down 3-1 in Muhoroni. World Hope beat Tusker 2-0 on last Wednesday.
