Champion club, Asante Kotoko began this year's Glo/GHALCA Top 4 competition on a good footing when they thrashed visiting Berekum Arsenals 3-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium yesterday.

Their vintage show thus places them on top of the league standings, beating Liberty Professionals by superior goals difference.

Diminutive Ofosu Amoah opened the scoring barely 30minutes into the game, and when the visitors were putting their acts together, striker Kwadwo Poku increased the tally to two. Arsenals, on many occasions fought to pull at least one goal back, but goalkeeper Eric Nii Baah's timely interventions denied them.

Substitute striker, Eric Bekoe, added his name to the score sheet when he managed a late strike to seal the doom of their opponents.

Liberty professionals pipped Heart of Lions 1-0 at the Ohene Djan Stadium, where Liberty's Daniel Yeboah emerged as the most valuable player.

The competition continues this Wednesday when Lions face Arsenals, while Kotoko play Liberty.
