Rwanda: Baryorike Wins Inaugural Sunshine Golf Open

Kigali — Gabriel Baryorike took Kigali Golf Club by storm on Saturday when he amassed 42 stable ford points to win the inaugural Sunshine Golf Open, his first accolade at the club.

Baryorike, 79 arguably the oldest golfer at the club beat Richard Gouw by two points while Jack Kayonga, the club president finished third with 39 points.

On top of the trophy, Baryorike won himself a package of a weekend for two at Kivu Sun while Gouw and Kayonga settled for dinners for two at Kigali Serena and Indian Kharzana respectively.

In the sunshine tour category, Innocent Rutamu topped proceedings with 29 points, while Charles Gahima beat Arthur Barigye (3rd) on count back after a tie on 27 points.

Celestine Habineza bagged a cash prize of Frw 20,000 in the semi-professional category after carding 36 points.

The club president Kayonga commended the organizers for staging a colorful event.
