In its multi-dimensional fight against maternal mortality in Kaduna State, the commissioners for Health, Economic Planning and Finance have both pledged to collaborate with the Development Research Project Centre (DRPC), in the campaign against the problem in the state and in the North-West zone.
The commitment was made during the recent visit by the centre's team, rendering awareness on maternal mortality prevention to the commissioners in their respective offices, at the State Secretariat Complex, Kaduna.
At the office of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Peter Everton Yari said, "We have been following your activities and we are satisfied with what you have contributed, so we are soliciting for partnership to help us achieve more developmental projects.
Like the misconception on the free treatment of pregnant women, the intention of the government is that every woman that goes for ante- natal treatment is expected to be examined free and even if it involves caesarian surgery, she is expected to get it done free without any charge but a lot of people don't understand that because they believe that once you are a woman then you should get free treatment. No, it is not like that, it is only pregnant women that have such privileges".
