Havana — A bilateral meeting between Foreign Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and her counterpart Felipe Perez Roque in Cuba is expected to strengthen relations between the two countries.
Minister Rogue said on Monday, he hoped the meeting will strengthen co- operation between the two countries, look at ways to give momentum to the relationship they already share and encourage further political dialogue.
Minister Dlamini-Zuma noted that although the relationship between Cuba and South Africa was a healthy one, more could be done.
"They [bilateral relations] are at a very healthy level, but we think there is still a lot more to be done. Our ambassadors have taken it higher and higher, but the potential has not been exhausted."
While in the country, Dr Dlamini-Zuma laid a wreath at the Jose Marti Memorial at the Plaza de la Revolution in Havana in honour of all those who died in the struggle against inequality and injustice.
Jose Marti was a leader of the Cuban independence movement from Spain as well as a prominent diplomat, writer, journalist and poet.
The ceremony symbolised the solid ties of international solidarity that the Cubans share with South Africans.

I really think this is the wrong direction to go in. What happened to all those who have left the country, who were just dying to get back?
