Luweero — The new Naads strategy, which aims at promoting six model farmers in each parish countrywide, will change lives of 30,000 families by the end of this year, President Yoweri Museveni has said.

"We have done away with wars because we have a strong army and we are against poverty in the different homesteads countrywide," said the President short speech at the consecration of the second Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, Bishop Paul Ssemwogerere, on Saturday.

Mr Museveni said Naads officials are under instruction in this new strategy to help farmers by identifying the six homes in each parish that can ably take on projects to act as models in their respective parishes.

"I am happy that during my tours in the different parts of the country, I have seen families that have picked up and are carrying out meaningful projects. This should be the way for every family," he said.

Mr Museveni said there is progress on the rehabilitation of the highway from Kawempe to Kafu which is good but the road will not help those lazy families that do not want to work. The President, also promised a car to Bishop Paul Ssemwogerere, and said in Ankole people take something to the newly wedded.

"You don't go with empty hands". I will quickly ensure that this vehicle is handed over quickly because some times my people delay to act on some of these issues," the President said.
