Ghana: NPP Ejected From Constituency Secretariat

Bekwai-Ash — THE AMANSIE East New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency has lost occupancy of its Secretariat at Bekwai, following the non-payment of rent.

The party has defaulted in the payment of rent for the past three years, a source close to the landlady has indicated.

Mr. Ernest Akwasi Appiah, caretaker of the building housing the local party secretariat, confirmed the ejection and take-over, of the office accommodation, from the party.

As a result, the constituency secretariat has been relocated to the premises of the Amansie East Municipal Administration, where party executives meet under trees.

The landlady feared her property might be destroyed, in the heat of tensions surrounding the parliamentary seat at Bekwai.

The office has remained shut since May 14, this year, when irate youth of Bekwai took to the streets, in protest against police brutalities being meted out to the people of Bekwai.
