Ghana: Ablekuma Gets 3 New Sub-Chiefs

26 August 2008

The Ablekuma Stool Land has installed three (3) new sub-chiefs to assist in steering the affairs of the Ablekuma community, which is under the supervision of Nii Larbi Mensah IV, Ablekuma Mantse.

The decision to install the three new sub-chiefs, according to Nii Larbi Mensah IV, formed part of decentralizing the community, in order to bring governance to the doorsteps of the people.

The three newly-installed sub-chiefs are Nii Ofori Tibo Sabaah, Chief of Nsufa Kokompe, Tony Koffie Annan, Chief of Bokorbokor CP, and Salifu Issaaka, Chief of Olubo-Milk, Sowuotuom.

The Ablekuma community, over the years, has been battling with land distribution litigations, until recently, when the issue was resolved by the Lands Commission, in recognizing Nii Larbi Mensah IV, as the sole signatory of Ablekuma Stool Lands.

"We have resolved our land dispute. There is no land litigation over here. There is total peace in the community, and anyone who wants to buy land is welcome," noted Nii Larbi Mensah IV, when he installed the three new sub-chiefs, in Ablekuma last weekend.

According to the Ablekuma Mantse, the Ablekuma Stool land recognized the newly-installed sub-chiefs, because it had faith and trust in them to help effectively manage the affairs of the community.

"The three sub-chiefs are going to assist the Ablekuma stool land in managing the Ablekuma community. This means that people would no longer have to walk long distances to the Ablekuma Mantse's Palace, to lodge a complaint or assist in decision-making of the community. Our aim is to bring governance to the doorsteps of the people," he noted.

The newly-installed chiefs pledged their allegiance, and unflinching support, to Nii Larbi Mensah IV, towards effective management of the Ablekuma community.
