Zimbabwe: Country's BBA Housemate Hopeful

Harare — Zimbabwean housemate in the Big Brother Africa 3 reality TV series Munyaradzi Chidzonga is hopeful that he will stay the course for 91 days in the house and bring the US$100 000 prize money home.

The 22-year-old charmer and likeable dude believes he has what it takes to win the cash, but one thing he cannot stand is a pretender.

"I hate a liar more than I hate a thief. A thief is only out to get my money, but a liar is after my reality," he said.

Arriving at the opening show to a rapturous applause, Munya, as he is already known in the house, could be the man Zimbabwe's has been waiting for.

In Big Brother Africa 1 and 2, female housemates Tapuwa Mhere and Bertha Zakeyo represented Zimbabwe and now the tables have been turned, could it for better or worse?

But for Munya, he says his special talent is his ability to read people though he admits to sometimes over-analysing situations and being tactless and moody.

He also admits that he's an attention seeker and his message to the Big Brother Africa audiences is "to sit back and enjoy the ride".

He singles out his father as his role model and "the epitome of a gentleman".

"There is no problem that can withstand the assault of sustained thought," he said.

A fan of rapper Lupe Fiasco, Staind, 340ml, Wyclef Jean, Jay Z, Black Sunshine, Freshly Ground, NERD, Lil Wayne and Alicia Keys, his favourite movies are Snatch, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars and Transformers. His favourite actors are Leonardo Di Caprio, George Clooney and Vince Vaughn.

Munya says Chimanimani Mountains and Kariba Dam are the best places to visit.

But his quest for the grand prize will not be a walk in the park as he faces stiff competition from 11 other housemates that include the likes of Ricco (Angola), Tawana (Botswana), Mimi (Ghana), Sheila (Kenya), Hazel (Malawi), Lucille (Namibia), Uti (Nigeria), Thami (South Africa), Latoya (Tanzania), Morris (Uganda) and Takondwa (Zambia).

Kabelo "KB" Ngakane retained his role as series presenter. The much-loved Channel O VJ and radio DJ, whose recently released single How Low Can You Go has seen him make the leap from TV personality to performer, will continue to be the primary link between the housemates and series fans.

In addition, M-Net has offered fans of the show a sneak peek at the all new Big Brother house, which underwent a total transformation in preparation for day one.

Comprising two bedrooms, one bathroom, a large lounge, an open plan dining area, a kitchen, diary room and a garden, complete with a striking new pool, it's in the décor that the house marks it's most dramatic differences.

Colourful, bold and with a style that can only be described as an eclectic mix of energetic, youthful and fairytale, the Big Brother Africa house is a character all on its own!

Living up to the new series' tagline of Wild, Wicked and Wacky, the house includes unique features, such as a "clock-themed bathroom", that are destined to capture fan attention and keep housemates entertained.

In a house built for the express purposes of isolating housemates from the outside world in a space where dates and times are excluded, it's definitely worth tuning in to see what the housemates' reactions will be to a bathroom jam-packed with clocks that don't tell time.

In addition, the new houseis equipped with 24 cameras and 52 microphones to provide audiences with a bird's eye view of the show all day, every day on DStv channel 198.

But the house is not the only element of the show that has evolved. The Brother Africa team has innovated once more and the popular "Shower Hour" will now move from its morning slot to a late-night slot, giving housemates a new twist to life in the BB house!

The official website of the show is www.mnetafrica.com/bigbrother and it's here that audiences will once more be able to interact with the series.
