Sierra Leone: Medical Superintendent in Drug Theft

Freetown — Police personnel at the eastern police station Tuesday obtained statements from the medical superintendent at the princess christian maternity hospital (PCMH) Dr. Ibrahim Thollie and his storekeeper following a theft sandal at the hospital.

Acting manager reproductive health at PCMH Dr. Francis Smart saw a vehicle loading medical drugs within the hospital compound he intercepted the drugs and discovered that the said drugs were reportedly to have finished from the hospital long ago.

The drugs were about to be clandestinely taken out of the hospital to an unknown private hospital.

Dr. Smart reported the matter to the police and informed the minister of health and his deputy about the alleged theft.

Local unit commander superintendent Nepor Senesise told Concord Times they have concluded their investigations adding that they are awaiting the advice of the director of public prosecutor (DPP) in order to charge the matter to court.
