Sierra Leonean striker, Sallieu Bundu aka Little, playing in the United States of America in the USL Second Division Championship has helped his club; Cleveland City Stars win this year's championship.
Bundu was on target for his club after defeating Charlotte Eagles 2-1 in the title decider match as they went on to clinch the USL championship.
The Sierra Leone striker got his name on the score sheet in the 39th minutes after he stole the ball from an Eagles' defender on the left flank and sped his way into the box before firing a rocket shot past Eagles' goalkeeper.
The goal was redemption for Bundu, who had an apparent goal earlier waived off with a controversial offside call, which appeared on replay to be erroneous. According to the club website, Bundu's celebration will cut short after the striker received a called-up to join the national team, Leone Stars for their World Cup qualifier against Equatorial Guinea on September 6. The 24yrs old striker was born in Freetown, but fled the country at age 15, together with his mother and siblings to Guinea as they were escaping from the civil war which his father could not survive. After five years of living in Guinea, Bundu's brother won a US immigrant visa in the Green Card Lottery, allowing the family to settle in the United States and on April 10, 2008, he signed with the Cleveland City Stars after impressing head coach Martin Rennie in a trial. The striker in his first season with the club netted 8 goals in 19 appearances.
