Liberia: Spanish Government Donates Two Fire Trucks

27 August 2008

The Government of Spain has today donated two fire fighting vehicles to the Government of Liberia.

Making the donation on the grounds of the Executive Mansion, the Head of the Spanish Consulate in Liberia, Mr. Javier Cantero, said both vehicles were donated by Madrid. The gesture, he noted, is in support of the Spanish Government's foreign development initiatives. Both vehicles have a capacity of carrying 2,500 and 500 liters of water, respectively.

Receiving the vehicles, Justice Minister Philip A. Z. Banks commended the Spanish Government for the donation and assured that the Liberian Government would use them to minimize fire disasters in the country. Foreign Minister Olubanke King-Akerele and Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Dr. Edward McClain also commended the Spanish Government for the donation as well as the 25 buses donated to Liberia in 2007.
