Maccabi Haifa striker Thembinkosi 'Terror' Fanteni says he is disappointed at being dropped from the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of the 2010 World Cup-Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria.
The 24-year-old striker featured in all the first four qualifiers, scoring one goal, before he was dropped ahead of the friendly international against Australia.
"I'm disappointed at being dropped because I don't know what the real reason behind it is," the player says.
"I know that I have scored only one goal in the first four qualifiers, but there are other strikers as well who haven't scored in many matches."
Last weekend Fanteni scored his first goal for his club in the Toto Cup. Toto Cup is an Israel cup which starts before the beginning of the League and Maccabi Haifa are on top of their group after three matches.
"I feel good about my form and when the League starts this coming weekend I will be looking sharp," the player adds.
"We are doing well in the Toto Cup and now we have three more group stages matches before the knockout round."
Despite being dropped Fanteni thinks Bafana can beat Nigeria's Super Eagles.
"I think we can win the match," he says. "In the first match we did well in the first few minutes but conceded goals on set pieces. The weather was not in our favour as well. In Port Elizabeth we can turn things around and we can't afford to lose."
