About the time Arny was kidnapped the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria Moshe Ram was having dinner with the Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, in Government House Port Harcourt.

Ram at the dinner declared that the Niger Delta is safe for foreign nationals resident in the state, and described reports on the situation in the area as being blown out of proportion.

The Israeli ambassador pointed out that the media hype of the Niger Delta situation as similar to that of Israel, and described Israel and Niger delta as victims of unwarranted media propaganda.

Ram observed that the state is safe, peaceful and with a friendly population, and expressed delight that the visit has afforded him and members of his delegation the opportunity to tour places of interest.

"We are safe here, because since my arrival, we have visited many places and seen Rivers people as peaceful, friendly and welcoming to visitors", Ram said.

Describing Nigeria as a vast economy, Ram noted that Israel has been of significant assistance to Nigeria in many respects because of its experience, and assured that Israel and Nigeria would continue to remain good partners in the effort to build a strong, viable and fruitful economy.

The Israeli Ambassador, who identified investments in all aspects of the economy as one sure way of improving the quality of life of the people, commended Amaechi's giant strides in governance, and his unbowed determination to make the state a better place for the people.

He insisted that Nigeria has the potentials, both human and natural, to be self sufficient especially in food production as the case with Israel today, explaining that both countries have the same kind of environment.

Ram noted that the visit is a manifestation of the importance the country attaches to its relationship with Rivers State particularly in commerce and industry, and stressed the need for the developed world to help developing countries to gain some form of economic independence, and expressed the hope that the trip to Rivers State would bring about an improvement in the already cordial relationship that both countries enjoy.

Nigeria's situation cannot be compared to that of Nigeria's. Nigeria is plauged by the corruption, neocolonialism, and racism that multinational coorporations and post-industrial economies excercise to gain a profit. Israel is backed by these countries, namely the United States, in its efforts to inflict the same colonial racism in occpuying Palestine.
