Harare — AMNESTY International, a human rights organisation, has commissioned two Zimbabwean plays, Super Patriots and Morons and Threads to tour overseas and regional destinations.
Directed by Calle Kjellgrene, Super Patriots and Morons will tour Canada and the United States. The play comprises an international cast.
Threads, a two-man play directed by Daves Guzha will tour the region from next week.
It will open in South Africa before travelling to Botswana, Namibia, Tanzania and Senegal.
Threads stars Tafadzwa Muzondiwa and Vimbai Zimuto.
Five years after being banned in Zimbabwe, Super Patriots and Morons has won international acclaim.
The play was adapted for the silver screen in 2007 and this year made its second appearance at an African International Film Festival during the Durban International Film Festival in South Africa.
It was also screened at the Zanzibar International Film Festival in July.
The film was directed by award winning director Tawanda Gunda and features Daves Guzha, Walter Mparutsa, Tendai Mutukwa, Jasen Mphepo, Michael Kudakwashe and Conchita Dzapasi.
The play, which was nominated for the prestigious Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award in 2007 has also been adapted by an all Canadian cast and premiered in the North American City of Vancouver.
