Russian side Khimiki FC have put the brakes on their bid to bring former Ghana international defender Samuel Osei Kuffuor.

The 31-year-old arrived in the European country on Tuesday to complete the move but both sides failed to reach an agreement by Wednesday night.

The Russian side have now decided to pull the plug on the deal insisting that they will not offer US$1m-a-year salary to the ageing defender.

Kuffuor will now turn his attention to the other European clubs and Asian sides seeking to sign him on a free transfer.

The former Bayern Munich ace has struggled since leaving the German giants in 2005.
