Zeenu — The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Hon. Enoch Teye Mensah has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has a better track record than the New Patriotic Party (NPP), because it was during the days of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) which gave birth to the NDC, that a solid foundation for the economic take-off of the country was laid.

According to him, the PNDC took over a country that was in total shambles with nothing to boast of, yet they were able to set up the needed infrastructure for the development of the country. Addressing supporters of the party at a rally at Zeenu, near Ashaiman last Sunday, which was also to launch the party's sub-office at Zeenu, Hon. E. T. Mensah called on Ghanaians to vote for Prof. Mills and the NDC for a better Ghana.

People from all walks of life thronged the Zeenu lorry station in their numbers to catch a glimpse of ex-President Rawlings and his entourage, as news spread that he was billed to address the rally. According to him, it was the PNDC which introduced mobile phone usage, internet, media pluralism, including the multiplicity of radio and television stations in the country, as well as building the two beautiful interchanges, namely Arko-Adjei and Tackie Tawiah in Accra.

Touching on road construction, Hon. Mensah said the NDC designed and constructed a number of quality roads in the country. He disclosed that apart from the party rehabilitating the Accra-Tema motorway to keep it in shape, it also constructed very good roads such as the Cape-Coast-Takoradi road, Sunyani road, Takoradi-Elubo road, which are still better than what the NPP are presently boasting of.

On energy, Hon. E. T. Mensah disclosed that it was through Tsatsu Tsikata' ingenuity that set in motion the search for oil in the country, which eventually led to attracting many foreign oil drilling companies to begin oil exploration in the country. The Ningo-Prampram MP further disclosed that it was under Tsatsu that the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) discovered Cape Three Points, where the country has now discovered its oil find, which the NPP boast of today.

On his part, Alhaji Huudu Yahaya, a former General Secretary of the party said the NPP had mismanaged the economy so badly that the people would have to vote for Prof. Mills and the NDC back to power, to be able to change the system and better the lot of all Ghanaians. Huudu Yahaya, who is now a first National Vice Chairman of the party said the NPP lacked the managerial competence to run the affairs of the country, even though they had boasted of having the men who would deliver the country from its economic woes.

The Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Hon. Alfred Agbesi noted that since the NPP took over the administration of the country, about 2,000 people have lost their jobs because they bore Ewe and Northern names, which suggest that such people are NDC supporters. He warned that when the NDC takes power come December 7, they would reverse the Vodafon-Ghana Telecom deal because it is shrouded in fraud.
