Kigali — Utexrwa, Rwanda's textile manufacturers have lived up to their pledge to Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA) by offering Frw0.7m for this year's Utexrwa Cup. According to a close source to RCA, this year's package is slightly bigger than last year's.

"This year, the package is much better which means better organization, better prizes for top performers and winners and a better all-round tournament," the source said.

Utexrwa came to the fore in cricket circles last year when it sponsored the inaugural Cup competition.

The tournament attracted five clubs; Challengers, Indorwa, Young Tigers, Kigali Cricket Club (KCC) and Right Guards; Challengers eclipsed Kigali Cricket Club in the final to win the inaugural tournament.

The four-month tournament officially takes off this Sunday at Kicukiro oval when the champions Challengers take on last year's finalists KCC.

The one-round tournament which will be played on a 50-over basis is expected to crown off this year's RCA's competitive calendar.
