Rivers State government has lifted the embargo it placed on admission at the School of Nursing and Midwifery in Port Harcourt.
Dr Sampson Parker, the Commissioner for Health, said this in a statement issued by Mr Owupere Benebo, the Press Officer .
He said the embargo was lifted because government had complied with the directives of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
Parker also said that government had removed the control of the school from the College of Health Science and Technology.
The commissioner disclosed that following the lifting of the embargo on August 1, admission into the School of Nursing and Midwifery would commence soon.
He told prospective students to exercise patience as further directives would be issued on government's actions regarding the school.
Parker said the explanation became necessary to prevent members of the public from being deceived by criminals who used every opportunity to defraud others.
The embargo was placed on admission in the school in 2006, following its merger with the College of Health Science and Technology by the state government.
