President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has donated five computers to the Mass Communications Department of the University of Liberia. The computers are intended to aid the work of the University's radio station, LUX 106.6 FM.
Making the presentation today on behalf of the President at the Mass Communications Department, Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics at the Ministry of State, Varney Sirleaf, said President Johnson Sirleaf was very impressed with level of work done to develop the radio station.
He emphasised that it was in this vain that the President had decided to donate the computers.
Assistant Minister Sirleaf added that the President had promised to give the Mass Communications Department a vehicle, which he noted, will be given at a later date. He reiterated President Johnson Sirleaf's commitment to keeping the University of Liberia functional.
The Chairman of the Department of Mass Communications, Professor Joe Mulbah, thanked the Liberian leader for fulfilling her promise to support the work of the Department.
He assured the Office of the President of Liberia that the computers will be used for the intended purpose. Present at the presentation ceremony were Dr. Alhassan Conteh, outgoing President of the University of Liberia as well as staff and students of the University.
