Angola: President Dos Santos Inaugurates Lubango's Central Hospital

Lubango — The Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos this Friday inaugurated in Lubango city, southern Huíla province, the local Central Hospital dubbed "António Agostinho Neto", which was rehabilitated under the credit line with China, and estimated at over USD 48 million.

This important regional structure with two buildings, one with seven floors and another with two, will benefit over three million inhabitants of Huíla and others from the neighbouring provinces, namely Namibe, Cunene, Kuando Kubango, Benguela and Huambo, taking into account its high-tech equipment.

The President praised the work carried out to renew that infrastructure, affirming that it is a hospital of reference, which will, not only meet the needs of Huíla province, but of the whole southern region.

José Eduardo dos Santos affirmed that it is pleasing to see how everyone are engaged in the implementation of programmes approved by the central and local government, appealing for the continuance of tasks.

The "António Agostinho Neto" Central Hospital, whose rehabilitation works began in 2006, increased its hospitalisation capacity from 352 to 520 beds, having also increased service areas from 22 to 27.

At the occasion, the provincial health director, 'scar Isaliuno highlighted the opening of the wards of haemodialysis, imageology, cystoscopy, plastic surgery, physical rehabilitation, pathologic anatomy, cardiology, among other previously non-existent services.

The Angolan Statesman also visited the rehabilitated structure that will host the future Public University of Lubango, whose official decree will soon be approved by the Cabinet Council.
