Sokoto — Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto State yesterday identified youth empowerment as the most strategic means of curbing social vices and crime in the society.
He restated his administration's commitment towards enhancing skill-acquisition programmes in the state to enable unemployed youths become self-reliant.
Wamakko made this assertion while inspecting youth skill-acquisition centres in Bodinga, Yabo and Shagari Local Government areas of the state.
While expressing satisfaction at the success of the programme, Wamakko said the government would increase the number of participants from 100 to 1,000 in all local government councils across the state.
He added that additional training materials would also be provided at the centres and urged youths in the state to embrace the programme.
