Malanje — The Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, Saturday in northern Malanje province recognised the hard work in the rehabilitation of Malanje Railway, finally in experiment phase.
"The Railway is ok, there are train engines and carriages, we must take care and organise the company that will manage this undertaking", the president told the local population who welcomed him, while speaking during his few-hour visit to Malanje province.
The management should be organised so that this undertaking that cost much money to the State produces the expected results. "Its rehabilitation attracted hundreds of million dollars," noted the president.
According to him, "many people would ask where the oil-generated money goes to", adding that "a large portion of that money, resulting from the production and sale of oil was earmarked for the rehabilitation of Malanje Railway, which will become a public property for all residents of Malanje, Kwanza Norte provinces and for all Angolan citizens".
The president also mentioned the importance of the rehabilitation of the Benguela Railway, estimated at Usd 2.0 billion.
"This amount could have been invested in the construction of a university in each country's province," stated the head of State, adding that the Benguela and Malanje railways are of key importance and strategic ways to the country's development.
