London — The 8th Eritrean festival in Great Britain officially opened yesterday, the 29th of August, in London.
The festival which was opened by children's show in the 'one-heart' or Hade lebi hall, was participated by the chairwoman of the Nation Union of Eritrean Women, Ms. Luul Gebreab, religious leaders as well as thousand of Eritreans from Britain and Stockholm.
After delivering a speech concerning the festival and the 47th anniversary of the start of the struggle for independence, the Eritrean ambassador to Great Britain, Mr. Tesfamichael Gerahtu, gave briefing regarding the political situation in the homeland and the role of Eritreans inside as well as outside the country.
The organizing committee on its part said that the Eritrean festival in Britain in expanding every year due to the participation of Eritrean national in the zone.
The festival has different children and youth programs, artistic and sports competitions, different traditional ethnic shows, women and youth discussion forums, seminars, beauty contents and cultural exhibitions.
The festival will stay open until the 31st of August.
