Zimbabwe: Caps United Take On Mighty Bulls

Mtulisi Mafa

30 August 2008

Harare — CAPS United - still on cloud nine following their memorable derby win over Dynamos - take on the Mighty Bulls at the Motor Action Sports Club tomorrow in a key battle against relegation.

It's one of a number of interesting ties in the capital tomorrow.

Shooting Stars can add to Masvingo United's relegation woes by beating the ailing busmen at Rufaro tomorrow.

Leaders Monomotapa -- the team of the moment in the Premiership -- face a tricky tie against Moses Chunga's Gunners at Dzivaresekwa.

Kepekepe Bhora turned on one of their best games in a season when they edged DeMbare 1-0 before a capacity crowd at Rufaro.

The Harare giants are, unfortunately, still fighting relegation and they know that even if they have to win the ABC Sup8r Cup next month, they need to ensure that they remain in the top-flight league.

CAPS United coach, Jostein Mathuthu, has been telling his players to forget about the win over Dynamos because he knows they have a bigger challenge in the league.

Makepekepe chiefs felt that the players were very low on confidence and sought the services of a psychologist and if you ask them, they

will tell you that it had worked wonders.

The Harare giants haven't lost since his arrival and there is an air of confidence about them these days.

The Mighty Bulls have been singing the blues of late.

Simeon Jamanda, the Mighty Bulls chief of protocol, was strangely seen doing some security duties during the ABC Sup8r semi-final showdown between CAPS United and Dynamos.

The battle of former Warriors captains will see Norman Mapeza leading his Monomotapa side against Chunga's Gunners.

Chunga returned to the touchline after a brief spell on the sidelines to re-unite with the crew he started the Gunners project with.

It's his first league assignment and it won't be an easy one as league leaders Monomotapa have just been in great form.

Gunners' manager Wellington Mpandare said that Chunga's arrival signaled a new era at the club and they were optimistic that he will lead the club out of relegation.

"We have a new coach and we are simply starting afresh.

"We are not putting ourselves under pressure because this is new beginning to us.

"We just need to get ourselves out of the murky waters and we believe Chunga is the right person to help us achieve that.

"Our players are motivated by the fact that we are playing a side like Monomotapa.

"They are doing very well and we see them as good as teams like Dynamos or Highlanders."
