Sierra Leone: Education Minister Sacks Two

Freetown — Education minister Wednesday sacked the acting director general of education Amadu Jallah and director of inspectorate of schools Dickson Rogers after they were implicated in the ghost teachers' syndicate at the ministry.

Amadu and Rogers were allegedly involved in the nefarious activity of defrauding the state of much needed revenue using fake payroll for 'ghost' schools and teachers in the ministry.

"Amadu Jallah is said to be involved in the fraud scam that rocked the Evangelical school at Wellington for which he took Le 2 million every month," sources close to the ministry disclosed.

Dr. Minkailu Bah, minister of education, youth and sports recently discovered this sleaze and called for the two officials to be probed.

During the ongoing nationwide verification exercise, the minister lunched a crusade on ghost teachers and schools. He discovered that officials in his ministry were conniving with those at the accountant general's office to defraud the state.
