Kickoff (Cape Town)

South Africa's Under-17 side, the Amajimbos, lost 1-0 to Malawi Under-17 at Eldorado Park on Saturday afternoon in an African Youth Championships qualifier.
The only goal of the game was scored by Andy Simukonda on 65 minutes and the South Africans now have an uphill task to qualify for the finals in Algeria next year as they prepare for the return leg in Blantyre on a fortnight's time.
In truth, the Malawians should have won by a much wider margin. They hit the woodwork three times in the second half and Simukonda had another three clear-cut opportunities that he should have buried.
The Amajimbos had their own chances through Zenzele Zungu and Sanele Mkhize, but they were outplayed for large portions of the game.
The decisive moment of the game came when Innocent Jere's excellent pass found Simukonda and the striker beat Abram Marosha in the home goal to give his side an away goal.
