Uganda: Minister Buturo to Suffer Sleepless Nights

opinion

Kampala — FOR the coming three months, I know people who will not sleep. At least one of them is our ethics minister Nsaba Buturo. It is Big Brother Africa III. And BBIII will be driving him into temptation to scramble DSTV signals.

Nsaba and colleagues don't like it when six girls are locked up with six boys whose reference scripts have sex written on them, thanks to Gae with a tano at the end.

Instead of going to pray in church, some of you readers will be glued to TVs watching what I cannot write here, lest the puritans stop buying The New Vision.

Yet these puritans sleep when pastors are being arrested for molesting girls, leaders are marrying people's wives and defilement is topping criminal lists in police files.

And they remember, when they wake up, to name housemates traitors - only to be flabbergasted by the heroes' welcome and UN postings to fight HIV after Big Brother house ends.

That is why, for now, we should not worry about who loses sleep over BBIII unless that person is me. For I too, am developing my concerns. I watched these guys enter the house and said Hmmm! By which I meant, Wow! Or Mama Mia!

In short, this year's BBIII is hot! The housemates looked to me like people who intend to return with twins! Moments just after they had entered the house, Big Brother supplied them with liquor. As soon as their veins were fuelled, the girls took over the house and started those mating dances I last saw with birds!

Guys were overwhelmed and decided to just be mesmerised. By the time I went to sleep last Sunday, I was seriously scared that the guys could become victims of mass rape by the females.

But what happens to girls when booze enters the formula? The 'disinhibiting' effect makes females loosen up and feel more comfortable initiating or engaging in sex.

They get more confident as booze facilitates more socialising and sexual communication. In the short run, alcohol has been reported by science to have a positive impact on sexual desire and arousal. That is why boozing a target is the oldest trick in the book. However, one research proved that it was a case of expectation.

Researchers divided volunteers into two groups and gave some drinks that were non-alcoholic but told them they contained alcohol.

After a few sips, the non-alcohol participants reported increased sexual arousal similar to those who actually consumed alcohol. In sex when we expect or anticipate a certain physical effect, we often experience it or report it to be the case.

So, while political parties are looking for mergers, BBIII housemates will be drinking their way into themselves. We shall applaud of course. Unlike in BBII, we have a male in the house. It is better watching a male Ugandan negotiating his way into a target than a sister being lined up for consumption.

If Morris comes out the Gaetano way, he is likely to find me at Entebbe waiting for him. But if it was a girl, I would be cursing the conquering guy! It is natural!
