Arusha — Kilimeru Sports of Arusha continued their winning spree as they clinched the Jubilee Trophy 2008, held in memory of Late Mufaddal Salem, on Sunday 24th August at the Fredkins Recreation Center.
Winning the toss, Kilimeru's decision to field first paid dividends as Swamibapa's batsmen left the ground at regular intervals, and those who stayed could not get the score board ticking.
Shyam Soni (34 runs) and Sameer Malaviya (10 runs) were the only batsmen who managed to cross on to double figures. Mazaher Punja of Kilimeru was Swamibapa's thorn as he punctured their innings taking 4 wickets for only 3 runs in two overs. The other wicket takers were Talib, Abbas, Javed and Sajjad who got one a piece.
Chasing a small target of only 87 runs, Hasanain Tahseel (24 runs not out) and Talib Chagani (20 runs) soon had Kilimeru smelling victory and the total was completed in the 14th over with the loss of 5 wickets.
At the presentation ceremony all paid their respects to Late Mufaddal Salem as they observed a one-minute silence. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Mohamed Jaffer of Jubilee Insurance, Arusha and Mr Kaizer Salem father of Late Mufaddal Salem.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Mohamed Jaffer talked of the importance of sports and it's benefits towards achievements in life. He assured ARCA of sponsoring the 4th Jubilee Trophy in 2009, an announcement which was welcomed by all cricketers.
