Abuja — President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua has been moved to the King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital in Saudi Arabia, where is currently recuperating after undergoing a surgery, Daily Champion can reveal.
The President, who took ill some 10 days ago, was first taken to Saudi German Hospital, before being moved to King Fahd. Officials of the Saudi German Hospital confirmed to Daily Champion that the President Yar'Adua was discharged weekend from the hospital.
The King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital is situated in the busy seaport of Jeddah on the western seaboard of the Red Sea. It is a 420 bedded hospital and forms part of a national network of healthcare facilities directly managed by the Medical Services Division (MSD) of the Ministry of Defense and Aviation (MODA).
This is even as the Federal Government has insisted that the President is in good health.A three paragraph statement issued by the Minister of Information and Communications, Mr John Odey, said: "He (President) is in good health to steer the affairs of the state to bring about better livelihood for the generality of the people of Nigeria".
Government said it fully appreciated the concern that has been raised in the Newspapers and some sections of the media over the past few days on the state of health of Mr. President, Alhaji Umar Musa Yar Adua.
The full text of the statement reads thus: "The Federal Government wishes to appreciate the concern that has been raised in the Newspapers and some sections of the media over the past few days on the state of health of Mr. President, Alhaji Umar Musa Yar Adua.
"The Federal Government wishes to restate here that Mr President is very well and healthy. He is in good health to steer the affairs of the state to bring about better livelihood for the generality of the people of Nigeria. He is expected back in Nigeria soon after his trip to Saudi Arabia where he has gone on lesser hajj. We urge all Nigerians to continue support this administration to fully realise the development goals of the country".
