Lagos — Barring any last minute development, President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, who has been away for over two weeks after reportedly undergoing some medical treatment in Saudi Arabia, will be back to the country today.
Family sources told Daily Champion last night that the President will on return, intensify efforts at tackling challenges facing Nigerians.
Concern over Yar'Adua's health worsened weekend, when it was speculated that the President had undergone a surgery for an undisclosed ailment. However, the sources at Jeddah Saudi Arabia where Umaru Yar'Adua and his close family members have been in the last two weeks, said he was hale and hearty.
Only on Sunday, the Federal Government reinstated its position that president was well and would soon return to Nigeria to steer the affairs of the state.
A three paragraphs statement issued by the Minister of Information and Communications, Mr. John Odey, said: "He (President) is in good health to steer the affairs of the state to bring about better livelihood for the generality of the people of Nigeria".
According to the statement, the Federal Government said it fully appreciate the concern that has been raised in the Newspapers and some sections of the media over the past few days on the state of health of Mr. President, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'Adua.
