As part of its ongoing Le2 billion mega prize promotion Africell mobile company Thursday presented a cheque of Le 100 million to winner Osman Nyallay, a senior secondary school pupil of Ahmadiyya Muslim secondary school in Kenema.
The presentation ceremony which took place at the Capitol Hall in Kenema was witnessed by a large number of community people and Africell subscribers.
Mayor of Kenema city Chief Brima Kargbo said government cannot handle all developmental matters of the country alone.
"We have realized the significance of tax returns which the government uses in diverse ways to undertake development projects in the country," he said.
He advised all Africell subscribers to continue to patronize the company if they were to benefit from other promotions yet to come.
Chief Kargbo appealed to the management of Africell mobile company to assist the district with its educational sector programme, adding that, "Africell sales will be the highest in the country as from now." Africell's regional director southeast Joe Abass Bangura said the draw was transparent and genuine.
Previous winners said they were ready to defend Africell in terms of its services and the ongoing promotion.
Winner Osman Nyallay of Kawula Street lauded Africell for its generous gesture, adding that the money would benefit him and his family.
"I am from a very poor family but Africell has made it possible for me to concentrate on my education. I was doing photographing in order to pay my school charges. The money is not for me alone," he said.
