Norwegian side Rosenborg has rejected an offer from Italian club Torino to sign Ghana-born midfielder Alexander Tettey.
The 22-year-old attracted interest from the Serie A side following an impressive outing for the Scandinavian giants in the Uefa Champions League last season.
Anthony (Annan) is a terrific player and I look forward to having him in the side
But Torino's US$4.5m offer for the Tettey falls way short of the US$6.5m demanded by the Norwegian club.
"The offer is not close to what we feel would be acceptable," said Rosenborg sporting director Erik Hoftun.
"Torino are really interested, but we will not sell unless we get an acceptable offer."
Despite his failure to secure his dream move, Tettey says he has no option but to stay with his club for the Uefa Cup this season along with his compatriot Anthony Annan who joined the club yesterday.
"I believe that, but I don't know," said Tettey. "It is Rosenborg that own me.
"I will play wherever the coach wants me to play. Anthony (Annan) is a terrific player and I look forward to having him in the side."
