John Boye has earned a move to Stade Rennes in France after weeks of uncertainty because of his links to an Israeli club.
The former Heart of Lions centre back and Black Stars hopeful had impressed in trials with the French side after he was recommended by their former captain and Ghana strongman John Mensah.
But the deal nearly broke down when Israeli club Hapoel Petah Tikva claimed the 21-year-old had signed a pre-contract agreement to join them.
That appears to be water under the bridge with Rennes announcing that they have signed the Ghanaian on a one-year deal, with the first option for an extension if he impresses.
"We have been following him for months. He is a player with great athletic capabilities; he is also fast and has a good aerial game," a Rennes statement said.
Boye will now be challenging for a place in the heart of the Rennes' defence after John Mensah left the club.
He is hoping the switch will also aid his movement from the local Black Stars to the substantive national team.
