Ghana/Libya: Milovan Leads Upbeat Group to Tripoli

2 September 2008

Coach Milovan Rajevac led a small team of players and officials to Tripoli on Monday night for Ghana's World Cup qualifier against Libya, confident they can get the result required to enhance their chances of qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.

Ghana go into the game level on points with Libya but Rajevac and his players are hopeful they will have the advantage going into the final group games after Friday's game.

The Serbian travelled with Junior Agogo, John Paintsil, Richard Kingson, the Kotoko trio of Kwadwo Poku, Eric Bekoe and Samuel Inkoom who was called in as a late replacement for Hans Sarpei.

Also in the team was goalkeeper George Owu, Issah Ahmed of Randers FC, Agyemang Badu of Berekum Arsenals and the Kaizer Chiefs defender Jonathan Quartey.

They will be joined by the rest of the squad for their first training session in Tripoli later on Tuesday with Rajevac in an upbeat mood.

"This is my first game, so it is very important," he told KickOffGhana.com. "I have met a few of the players but I am really looking forward to it."

Junior Agogo joined his colleagues in Accra after playing for Zamalek in neighbouring Abidjan in a Caf Champions League game and says he is looking forward to meeting the new man in charge.

"At the moment, he is new to us so we have to get used to him but the arrival of the new coach is always exciting so I am sure it will have a good bearing on how every player will approach the game," Agogo told KickOffGhana.com.
