Bekoe saves day for Kotoko After 87 minutes of near misses, which put the entire Kotoko supporters on tenterhooks, goal-poacher Eric Bekoe shot past Al-Merreikh's goalkeeper, who was impressive in the latter part of the game, to fetch the vital three points to keep their Confederation Cup dream on course, in Kumasi yesterday.

It was substitute Kwadwo Poku, who did all the dirty work from the left flank, for Bekoe to hit the back of the net sending the entire stadium agog.

Prior to the late goal, the expectant crowd at the Baba Yara Stadium had gone quiet, as a result of the home side's inability to hit the back of the net, after so many near misses, and brilliant goalkeeping by the Al-Merreikh goalkeeper.

Bekoe, on many occasions came close to hitting the back of the net, but the visitors rose to the occasion each time with good defensive work.

The visitors proved threatening after the break, but former Heart of Lions defender, Offosu Appiah's intervention was timely denying them the lead, until Bekoe sealed the game for Kotoko.
