Angola: Government Micro-Credit Programme Worth USD 45 Million

Luanda — Farmers, teachers, nurses and other health technicians have so far benefited from loans worth USD 45 million, granted by Sol Bank, under the implementation of government's programme of credit for consumption and micro-credit, ANGOP learnt.

This was announced by the chairperson of Sol Bank, Coutinho Nobre Miguel, who dded that the initiative was launched in September 2005.

Speaking to ANGOP, he considered the government's initiative as important, having stressed that it is being jointly managed by Sol Bank and the Savings and Credit Bank (BPC), since this process is enabling the implementation of economic activities meant to combat poverty in the communities.

According to the official, the project has already benefited 25,200 teachers, nurses and other health technicians from rural areas and, the agricultural sector covered 40,000 farmers and peasants organised into cooperatives.
