Harare — THE Rainbow Tourism Group has expressed confidence it will complete its joint-venture three-star hotel in Beitbridge in time for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
The National Social Security Authority is the other partner in the project.
A statement accompanying RTG's half-year results for the period ending June 30 2008 showed that civil works currently underway at the construction site were expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The construction of the hotel started towards the end of last year. The joint venture project was expected to be financed to the tune of US$10 million with RTG set to run the hotel on completion.
Beitbridge town is one of the country's busiest border posts as it offers passage to and from Zimbabwe and South Africa with traffic going as far as Zambia, Malawi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The establishment of another five star hotel in Victoria Falls by RTG in conjunction with a local property developer is also reported to be taking shape.
Its A'Zambezi River Lodge would soon be refurbished. "Preliminary designs have been put in place for the upgrade and refurbishment of A'Zambezi River Lodge to a four star hotel. Progress thereof will be reported at year-end," the company said.
The hospitality concern has six hotels in Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, and also has a presence in Uganda, South Africa and Zambia.
