Kampala — ABRAHAM Chepkirwok's third place finish in the Lausanne, Switzerland Athletissima Super Grand Prix saw him cement his position at the top of the World Athletics Tour (WAT) 800m ranking.
The international athletics federation and the organising committee base on points acquired in the different WAT events to invite athletes to the annual World Athletics final which is due next weekend in Stuttgart, Germany.
Racing in a fast-paced heat one that also had Olympic gold medallist Wilfred Bungei and bronze winner and world champion Alfred Kirwa, Chepkirwok started his race cautiously, until the home stretch.
He however failed to beat Kenya's Olympic silver medallist in the 1500 metres, Asbel Kiprop, who won the race with 1:44.71 followed by Yego.
Chepkirwok beat Bungei to fourth position in the tough heat, where the top five were separated by less than a second.
