Windhoek — The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University will conduct a programme on peace, power and wisdom in changing times.
The event will take place at a local hotel on Saturday afternoon.
South African Pratiba Daya, a teacher of meditation with 20 years of experience, will deliver the keynote address. The event will also feature dances and poetry by local artists.
The programme is part of an African-wide initiative to promote values of peace and empowerment.
"In today's world, there is a high level of stress and worry," said Daya.
"The future seems uncertain as we grapple with global issues of economic growth, political change, lack of security and climate change. People are feeling unsettled and anxious.
"Why? Deep down inside, we all live with the fear that we cannot actually control all the factors that influence our lives."
She said young people particularly find it hard to chart a path for their future in such a climate of uncertainty and that the programme offers a fresh perspective on the self in relation to the world.
The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University is part of an international organisation promoting spiritual understanding, leadership with integrity and elevated actions for an improved world.
It opened a branch in Namibia in 2005 and offers courses in meditation, positive thinking, stress-free living and seminars on values in healthcare, education and leadership.
