South Africa/Cameroon: Moudouthe-Bille Cuts Vasco Deal

Cameroon midfielder Christian Moudouthe-Bille has finally found a new home at modest First Division Coast Stream Vasco da Gama two months after he was shown the door at relegated Black Leopards.

Moudouthe-Bille has signed on a one-year contract with the Cape Town-based club that got their campaign off to a good start with a 4-2 win over neighbouring Hanover Park.

"We have signed Moudouthe-Bille on a one year contract and we are sorting out his paperwork. We are in the process of applying for a work permit for him because the one that he has is from his previous club which needs to be changed," says Vasco manager Kenny Gertse.

Since being released by Leopards, the 27-year-old defensive midfielder has also tried his luck at Santos.

Moudouthe-Bille has yet to prove that he is a quality player since he flopped at Mamelodi Sundowns in his first season where he only started six games before being off-loaded to Leopards.

Even his stint with Leopards brought no joy and he struggled for game time before being transfer-listed again.

Moudouthe-Bille will be hoping for regular game time at Vasco that has proved elusive in the two years that he has spent in South Africa.

Meanwhile, former Bafana Bafana international Siyabonga Siphika has left Vasco after weeks of training with the club in the hope of landing a contract.

"Siphika is not better than anything that we already have in the midfield and so he is no longer training with us. I hear he said we offered him peanuts, but he would not have provided anything more than what we already have," says Gertse.

Siphika - formerly with Bush Bucks, Manning Rangers, Maritzburg United and Sweden club IFK Norkopping - has, of late, been at his home town club Matatiele Professionals who campaign in the Vodacom League.
