The National Anti-corruption Commission to centralise activity and action plans of all anti-corruption operational structures.
The fight against corruption in Cameroon is expected to be more vigorous on the field as all operational structures involved in the crusade are henceforth expected to systematically and within a time frame submit reports of their activities and action plans to the National Anti-corruption Commission (NACC) that will, in turn, render a report to the President of the Republic. This is in fulfilment of NACC's main mission which consists of following up and evaluating the effective implementation of the government plan for the fight against corruption.
The National Chairman of NACC, Paul Tessa made the declaration last Monday evening at the end of an information seminar with heads of anti-corruption units in ministries, Non Governmental Organisations and the Media. NACC officials and those of other anti-corruption operational structures exchanged information on the history, context and environment of the fight against corruption in Cameroon, as well as the missions, organisation, functioning and activities of NACC since its creation.
They also discussed the place of NACC in the environment of the fight against corruption in Cameroon, government anti-corruption plan and the role of anti-corruption units in ministries. One of the key topics was the new context of the functioning of NACC and its relations with the anti-corruption units in ministries as well as partnerships with NGOs and the media.
The topics discussed made the heads of anti-corruption structures to fully understand NACC, its missions and their relations with it. It was with this in mind that NACC National Chairman, Paul Tessa called on them to put the institution at the centre of their objectives in respect of the law. He called on them to wait for no other decree to produce the concrete results in line with responsibilities they have or for which they are engaged as NGOs and the media.
