Liberia: EDU-CARE Empowers Teachers

EDUCARE-Liberia, a non-governmental, but educational organization has embarked on a Teacher Enhancement program by empowering some 120 teachers from both public and private schools in Monrovia.

Speaking to the Analyst yesterday at the conference room of the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA), in Monrovia, the CEO of EDUCARE-Liberia, Madam Deola O. Famak said a Four-Day teachers Enhancement program in computer and internet training among others have been inaugurated.

She said her focus is all about the educational system of Liberia, adding that EDUCARE-Liberia will not rest until 90% of Liberian teachers are trained in order to bring a acceptable standard in Liberia's educational system.

Madam Famak noted that to have a stable and secure society, teachers must be

Trained in order to help for the Economic of said country to have what she called boost.

"Many of them have passed the age of going to school, so if we give these skills(Computer and Internet), we will be opening them to world to access three information where they will be able to talk to other teachers", she noted.

She said the training will include how teachers can learn to plan their lessons, using the internets and computers among other importance educational skills.

According to her, teachers who are participating in said training exercise are drawn from Elementary, Junior and Senior Schools in the city of Monrovia and other teachers are expected to be drawn from other areas from Monrovia.

"We target three teachers from each school though she did not named said schools, she promised to cover the entire city of Monrovia and disclosed that there are plans underway to extend EDUCARE-Liberia to the rural areas", she said.
