The eight other participating airlines are Kabo Air Limited, Med View Air Ltd, Meridian Air Ltd, Air Niamey in partnership with IRS Airlines Ltd, Egypt Air, Hamsal Air Ltd and Emirate Touch Aviation Services Ltd.

A statement yesterday by NAHCON's Public Relations Officer Uba Mana said the Saudi Airlines got the approval after indicating interest to participate in this year's Hajj operation in Nigeria. He added, however, that the arrangement with the Saudi carrier was "yet to be finalised."

He said Kabo Air Limited, Med View Air Ltd, Meridian Air Ltd and Air Niamey have been approved as carriers for "Ordinary Pilgrims."

For Private Tour Operators, the commission has approved Egypt Air and Hamsal Air limited, while Emirate Touch Aviation Services Limited is to serve as standby air carrier for the operation.

Mana also said government approved five companies to handle the supply and manufacture of suitcases for intending pilgrims.

The companies were Corporate IR Bags Ltd, Al-Khalil Establishment, Koed Ventures, Lanyo Luggage and Travelling Bags, and Bada I Ventures limited.
